looking forward to the show again myself. But its the bigger firms i want to see from across the water, They done better deals for me last year at the show. I tried to buy of a couple of the local lads and they had the stuff sitting at the same prices as their shops and would not budge or do a deal. If i want to pay shop prices i will go to the shops and not to the show. The whole idea in my view is to get a bargain or at least some discount. Which the bigger guys did and not the locals. One local guy told me he would do me a bargain and sell me 2 surfmaster reels for only £100. Said it was a great price and nobody would beat it. But these reels retail for that price, so i went elsewhere.

my experience with shows is that they try to sell the rubbish they cant sell in their shops.

Wee Barrie you are not far wrong with the one offers you find at some shows (3 hook mack feathers with chinese writing whose hooks fall off as u open the packet grrrrr)
The guy with the shops in coleraine and ballymena does a nice stall of stuff at nutts corner each sunday -his advantage is he covers all branches of the sport well- dunno if hes at the show this year.
Great outdoors is the name - always gives me a discount esp on the bigger stuff - if you buy in his shop tell him you want the market discount
I think the bigger English companies are selling so much over the web these days that they are doing less live shows. :)

heard it on the radio this morring, Angling Show Belfast o8 kings hall 26th-27th of this month....

Wed Jan 30, 2008 12:58 am

was unable to atend this year, though as my shop seems at times to be a chat zone i heard many many comments of those who attended.

Not one good comment was made.

Mostly that it was like having to pay just to get into a large fishing shop.

Another said how long can you just keep watching guys fly casting

And another said it was total crap..hardly no sea gear and that it was mostly carp, fly etc.

I Listen to my customers, they are they guys who make or break us...
glad i didnt attend.

Anyone with similar or Different views ????

As a stall holder again this year i can not complain. We had a very good 2 days and the fact that Tonys Tackle decided to bring more fresh water tackle than sea gear defo helped. So a big thankyou to those that came and supported us .

ANGLING SHOW

Wed Jan 30, 2008 11:27 am

The Ulster Provincial Council of the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers had a stand on the balcony.

Having manned the stand on both days I must say the interest we got was more than expected. Anglers looking for clubs to join , places to fish , boat and shore etc.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who volunteered to
man the stand - Big Phil, Eugene, Stephen, Jonny , Angela , Neill , Mick , Grahame and young Ryan.

Thanks to all who visited the 2008 show up at the King's Hall. If you have any feedback regarding the 2008 show that you'd like to share it would be most appreciated as we're always looking to improve things where possible.

This year we'll be accepting €'s as well as £'s for the entrance fees (present exchange rate of €1 = £1 - 24/12/2008) and are working on a way to have €'s accepted by the Exhibitors too. The Angling Ireland Show 2009 website is up and running and I'm updating the Exhibitor list as the names are passed to me, but it should be another good show for one and all. The website is being updated all the time and I have some new stuff that I'm working on with regards to show visitors, which I hope makes things a bit easier for some people.

The Angling Ireland Show Team would like to hear your experiences of the previous show though, be they good, bad or indifferent (just tell it as it is). We'd also like to hear your ideas on what you would like to see at the show in the future as without visitors there would be no show.

Finally we'd like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
