could they still claim a specimen cert. :?: :?

probably not.. due to it being an illegally caught fish i.e. caught during closed season..

but then again you never know..

i suppose the best thing to do is get in contact with the Irish specimen board and ask them...

You are not meant to fish for them during the close season.

Even if someone caught one accidentally (which is fine, as long as it's returned with care) it would look very bad for the ISFC to recognise it as a specimen.

anyway its hard enough catchin one when your allowed wouldnt it be a cruel twist of fate to get one during the ban :shock: :D

just saying that their system is flawed as it relies too heavily on the honesty of individuals in declaring weights etc.

i would be in favour of having regional boards that would be able to closely monitor the area. perhaps even allowing fish that currently require production of carcases to be returned alive as they could be weighed in and confirmed within hours of capture and returned alive (obviously with the use of a bucket of water etc)

If you would like to claima specimen, then a registered scales is key.... This and a Digital Camera. Take a lot of photos and concentrate on features. Get close up's as well as some full shots.
