I had a handle break on one of my Daiwa reels and remembered reading on one of the forums here that Daiwa had a factory in Scotland and were very good at dealing with problems with their stuff. I phoned them this morning and told the service department that my handle had broken and asked how could i go about getting a new one. To my surprise the girl said give me your address and we will send one straight out and sorry about any inconvenience. The fact that there is no charge, not even postage, has shocked me. Was never even asked did i have a receipt etc. Very good service on Daiwa's part.

Remarkable really. If only they all realised the value of such an approach when it comes to positive word of mouth (see the alternative in the Gerrys of Morecambe) thread!

great to hear of customer service like that, especially in the modern angling environment where customers seem to be taken for granted.
i had a simular service from Glasgow Angling Centre about a pair of chesties

well i think the moral of the story is...always go straight to the company. if you gave a daiwa rod to a tackle shop here you would never see it again.

I've had similar experiences with Daiwa. Great customer service. Pity about their UK website. ("What UK website?" you ask. Exactly!)
