Had a long discussion with Jeanette White this morning and it seems like the meeting on Monday is just to rubber stamp what has already been decided.
Pat
As per our discussion earlier, I have been in contact with our Corporate Services dept who run the Council meetings and I have been told that as the Bye Laws are not a public document until they are adopted by the Council I cannot release them to you.
The last Dun Laoghaire Area Committee on 28th April was attended by all Dun Laoghaire councillors and they suggested and passed any changes made to the bye laws. I would suggest you contact your local Dun Laoghaire councillor and have him represent your views at the Council meeting on Monday night.
Kind Regards,
Jeanette White

At this stage we have to persuade a councillor to table an amendment, and hope we can persuade enough councillors to vote for it.

This whole process stinks worse than week old bait. Have we got a sympathetic councillor lined up to help us?

THE RESPONSE THAT WAS NEEDED
As long as I've been Chairman of Munster Provincial Council I've always kept my comments on this site to my own view point.
But now it's time to break this rules.
This issue is is not confined to D.L.R.C.C. this is a National issue.
No stone must not be let unturned to defend the right of anglers to fish, with respect to other users, these amenities.

Quite right Donal. There are people out there with agendas of their own, and we have to be vigilant in defending our sport.
The problems now is time, or the lack of it. We don't have much time left to organise ourselves.
Good letter by the way Tom.

I thought that the "Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005" would have obliged DLR CoCo to provide a lifeguard for all beach users, not just swimmers- which is the net effect of this amendment.

I talked to the leader of the Fine Gael group.
They discussed this last night.
They will be looking for an amendent reinstating the less restrive clause, or failing that, seeking a postponement of a vote on the issue.

The labour group are discussing this prior to the council meeting.

Hi Folks,
I had a response from An Cathaoirleach and he says he will also table an amendment. People Power? Keep it up.

Try this eamon.gilmore@oir.ie or look at this page http://www.labour.ie/eamongilmore/
I also had a response from Denis O'Callaghan, An Cathaoirleach, stating he would do all he can.

i have just sent this in to eamon gillmore not one for writing letters i hope it helps
Mr Gilmore
I was talking to you just after your election when you appeared on newstalk about this proposed ban. You said that day that you would support anglers in their fight against this ban. It seems that the county council are trying to sneak this in through the back door,im not sure what you can do but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Fintan Kavanagh
