VERY LUCKY ESCAPE (Lead making)

lads i think goggles are a good idea but a face visor would be better not a welding one ,you can get one in clear plastic we use them for high pressure water jetting they are very strong and wont steam up like goggles and protest your whole face they also enclose underneath your chin to stop splashes going under the visor lets face it if john was taking a ladel full of lead when that happened it would have been the white stick and skin grafts ,i used to make my own lead weights but dont any more ,the fumes of molten lead are very bad for you an extraction system should always be used or make em outside!

Might also be a good idea to extend the handle on your ladel John the handle on mine is about 4 foot long so you can keep your distance from the molten lead and I also make mine outdoors

If that splatter that hit the wall had hit your face or even torso in a T shirt...!

Thanks for the post John, Ive dropped old leads into already molten pans before, and I wasnt wearing goggles either.

I wont be so complacent with melting lead in the future, thank you for this warning, it must have been water trapped within that lead as you say.
