Re: Crab traps in North Dublin!

Something really has to be done to let these people know that they can't rape our waters.
Great idea to get a group together and lift what tyres they have put down. Count me in although
I would let the police know whats been done in case they get nasty which I heard they can.
They have ruined pike fishing already in a lot of lakes and now they are going to ruin the beaches
Nothing is safe there will be nothing left. Won't be long till they have JCB's on Dollymount strand
after the lug. Really hope something is done on this one I don't know how they get away with it.
Not working much at the moment so glad to help a cause.

It would be intresting what shops are buying the crabs off them.

I don't think anyone minds a few traps here and there.
But 450 tyres and a few carparts is over the top.
The crap poppalation will collapse.
Yeah i know spelling is crap

THEY DONT OWN THE BEACH OR THE CRAB ON IT AND DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO DUMP TYRES ON IT . IF THEY SAY THEY OWN THE TYRES THEY ARE ILLEGALLY DUMPING . SORT IT OUT LADS .

Bring a member of the revenue commisioners/with you and tell them how much thease lads are making in cash  that should scare the craps out of them.
if they only got two crap's out of each tyre at say 40 cent each thats a total of 360euro per day for 1 tide they probably do two tides  and dont for get thats just guessing on figures it could be much higher.

im led to believe that most of the tyres at sutton belong to someone and that they have some kind of license or permission from D.O.E and that hes the only one with such permission :?: .if this is true it seems very unfair and how does one tell who owns what tyres and rubbish?...maybe these lovely "new irish" fellas work for him :?: .

Well if that's true someone is gettin very greedy as usual in Ireland. There is no way anyone should be allowed dump
450 tyres into the sea no matter what. Anyway it won't be long at that rate till the crab are gone and then we are left
with an ugly coastline and bait collecting is "banned" for all.

Em ive also heard this for what its worth. Nothing wrong with a few crap traps like but at this rate its completely unsustainable!!

if they are used / end of life tyres they have been payed by the person who gets a new tyre to be recycled , i think it €3 everytime you buy a new tyre . which pays the tyre supplier to send them to be desposed / recycled to a registerd waste dissposal company with a permit , so who ever owns the tyres on the beach would have to have a permit to dispose / recycle the tyres .

The car parts, doors bonnets etc are a joke on the beach and are crap for holding the crab anyway, there are about 100 new tyres put down by the foreigners and they are crap aswell because they wernt put down properly in the first place. i did them myself the other day and got 2 peeler out of them, so if anyone thinks these muppets are making a load of cash there mistaken. they should be ripped up from the beach there just an eyesore where they are. these tyres and car parts are on the side where the cavities used to be, there was never a problem with the cavities and then some asshole smashed them up. dave tillies tyres are on the other side of the estuary and for the most part cannot be seen from the shore there well secured and dug into the sand, a passerby wouldnt even know they are there, no body swims near them because there about 300 yards out off the shore and ive never seen anyone swim in this estuary before anyway, before anyone says oh you work for dave or know him , i dont work for him and i dont know him i just do his tyres the odd time .sorry dave, so i know about them, there not a safety hazard where they are and saying these tyres damage the crab stocks in that particular estuary is bull aswell, you want to see the amount of hardbacks out there at the moment its unreal. anyone that buys crab in a dublin tackle shop , this is mostly where they come from.

It's unlikely that anyone posting knows exactley who owns what and until such time no names will be included in any posts.

there are crab traps that have been there for years. all owned by a wellknown b ait supplier from rings end. as other posters said these are not what this is about .it also seem that as well as our foriegn friends another family also from the ringsend area have started dumping bonnet lids and tyres. was out there this morning had a few peelers out of some of them no one was there at low tide all this publicity must be keeping them away. but i also must say sutton as abait digging area is almost dug out it. has been two yrs since i dug rag and it was hard going to get 100 rag. what i did notice they were all big no small ones at all. which im sure you will agree is not good.

If these people continue as they are they will litterally strip our coast of pretty much everything.I hae also been told that not all of what is collected is for use by anglers. These guys are also using some of what they collect for food purposes. Then when it comes to them collecting shelfish these are being sold elswhere. These guys are similar to the asian cockel pickers that we had problems with down south only these are very aggressive at times and do not give a crap about what the future will be like in the marks they destroy. It really is that bad.Needs to be stopped.Getting back to your point about you being in the catogory of the people who buy peeler. If these guys are not addressed they guys you buy peelers off wont have any to sell to you themselfs so its in everybodys interest that they are stopped!!

Isnt this foreshore land and is the property of the Irish Government thats us as
i remember. Even though the banks think they own us they dont that land belongs to the people. :P

If its a commercial enterprise they need a license otherwise they need to remove the tyres as its illegal dumping on a commercial scale.

Just watched a program on tv called Trawlers,Rigs and recues and one part of the programme showed the authoritys went down onto a low tide seaweed rock covered beach when they saw a guy with his dog rumaging around in it.They went to see was he collecting shellfish because if he was they said a permit was needed and so illegal to do without, this was in hartlepool on the east coast of england
