nah davy - usual suspects - eastern europe, i'm afraid, i dunno - i have brought home bags of fish, and hammered shoals of macks - so maybe i've no right to complain - but it seemed serious overkill - and s**t to have been a factor in them knowing how to get them

on a lighter note, 2 anglers with 14 mullet in one session   lucky f*****ers

I eat Pollock quite a bit. Only had some last night. You need to fillet them quickly and get them on ice to retain their flavour and freshness. If I don't have an Ice box with me, then I will only take the last 2 or 3 of the day. If you would like to bake then Gut quickly and give the backbone a very thorough wash and remove the gills.... Makes all the difference.

another sad story  i mean there's no way killing those luvly fish.my heart is breaking when i read davyp's report. We true sport ANGLERS spend hundreds of euros on our tackles but we release(put back) most of our catch it's unfair isn't :?:

i`ve no problem with a couple of fish being kept for the pot but 14 very slow growing mullet is just taking the pi**
(if it was bass this would be the most active topic on SAI....)

mullet could be at serious risk of over-fishing if these people continue like this.its not just mullet that are at risk.im sure there are other slow growing fish to worry about, such as wrasse.

davy if this continues, within a few years you might not see a single mullet at your mark.its probably the same group of fish that visit that spot year after year.
if you take them away maybe young mullet wont have any older mullet to follow and it`ll not be long before you`ll have a mullet-less mark :!: (dont know if thats exactly what happens its just my therory)

yeah , its a nightmare alright - an mullaghmore had a good stock of decent fish some deffo over specimen weight- wouldnt take them long to wipe them out at all - such a pity, but if they wont listen what can you do? - ijust hope the ones the caught tasted rotten or had a few "" chocolate" surprses in their stomach contents  - probaly the only thing that might save them - tho hopefully the fish will bugger off for the winter - nearly afraid to go an try for a few more myself incase it attracts any more attention :( :(

sadly i dont think there`s much you can do  maybe its time all fish had the same protection as bass  especially my beloved mullet
the reality is that until that day comes mullet and all other fish are in for a hard time from these people.....

Sad thing about it is, people were photographing the fishermen/catch and thought it great

Was a sorry sight and all I hope is they tasted sh**e and leave the bitter after-taste I remember from eating them from Weymouth harbour forty year ago.

Absolutley, All fish should have some form of protection Size limit and Bag limits. Large fines for offenders could generate revenue and deter these muppets.
