from a concerned caller of a small inflatable drifting between Ireland’s eye and Lambay Island. The small 2.5 meter inflatable boat was located just south of Lambay island with two adults and a child on board along with fishing equipment.

A boat this size was unsuitable for the sea conditions especially with southerly winds expected to reach Force 6 due in shortly (a small craft warning was in place from Met Eireann). It was also found that boat had no means of communication other than a mobile phone. The three occupants were taken aboard and the boat was secured over the bow of the Coast Guard and brought back to Howth Harbour where the passengers disembarked.

All boats are strongly recommended to carry basic equipment including flares and a VHF Radio; even boating close to shore mobile phones will not work in certain areas along the coastline. For more information see Irish Water Safety Safe Boating Guidelines.

Thanks to the quick thinking of the concerned caller assistance could be provided. Remember if you see someone at Sea/ Cliffs/ Beach who you think maybe in trouble ring 999/112 and ask for the Coast Guard
this is the coast guard report from howth .they were out there again yesterday force 6 blowing gobshites

Seriously, that dingy should be taken off those idiots!! And if that is not legally allowed then an "accident" with a knife should happen! How many times are the coast guard supposed to deal with these fools

or the coastguard should have the powers to take it off them like you would a child not listening to you its like they have this idea that sure if anything happens theyll come and get us i wonder would they chance this in there native country
or would they be locked up

This might be a naive question but can they not be billed for the cost of the rescue? I know you have to pay the fire brigade when they have to come out to quench a chimney fire, so why not make these people pay for the efforts of the coast guard? This would definitely put a hold to their ludicrous behaviour when they are hit where it hurts them most.

There's a tidal but land-locked pond outside of the Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff. It's full of mullet. The locals feed them and they are just pets (the fish not the locals!). Henry and friend were filmed in one programme trying to catch those poor Mullet. Not one shot showed the hotel which was ten yards away. There were a lot of angry people in Glengarriff.
Henry may as well start fishing in my local Chinese restaurant aquarium.
P.S. Okay, Okay! The locals are pets as well.
