paul youngs road trip was fairly entertaining. Also think "the fishing adventurer" is a good mix, even the good auld dodder got a look in in his Irish episode along with a fishing trip with mr Hendrix,

For me A passion for Angling will always be up there, its beautifully filmed timeless classic. What I like about it is that instead of focusing on the latest must have gadgets and techniques it in my opinion captures what fishing is really all about albeit it a quite eccentric way. Actually Hugh Miles, the guy who produced A Passion for Angling has just finished making a new series called Catching the Impossible which I'm looking forward to seeing.
Like many others here I'm sure, I grew up watching John Wilson and whilst his laugh undoubted does get tiresome you cannot deny his contribution to fishing television over the years. I remember as a kid waiting up to watch his shows, actually I think I still have a lot of them on some videos somewhere along with whatever fishing programs were on the TV at the time, probably the likes of Screeming Reels now that was a wierd show.
You don't seem to see too much sea angling on the TV, let alone Irish sea angling and that is one of the main reasons why I enjoy Henry Gilbey's stuff. That said I've seen all of them a good few times at this stage so I wouldn't mind seeing some new ones.
Since I've got digital I've discovered (no pun intended) many of the shows that have been mentioned already, some obviously been better than others but I think Paul Young's programs have stood out for me. The Fishing Adventurer was also another good one and it was great to see our own Jim Hendrick on it as well as my local river the Dodder. I find the Matt Hayes stuff can be a bit hit and miss, Mick Brown is great and I enjoyed the Great Rod Race but I think some of the other shows aren't quite as good.

Anyone remember reel wars. It featured two lads fishing against each other, sea fishing, pike fishing and fly fishing in the west of ireland.Quite a good show but could have been improved by less irritating contestants. Thought it may have been the start of a regular series but it seems to have been a one off.
