Kilmuckridge Area February 10 2-7 pm (MA)

February a bad time of year for fishing but myself and mark have fished here at this time of the year and had close on 20 flatties in a session, mostly small but quite a few big enough to count

Thanks to Henry's Tackle for sponsoring our Shore Master Angler Series.

me too ...

What other possibilities besides Morriscastle (Kilmuckridge)??

With the sandy beaches like Ballinoulart not fishing well (last weekend anyway) maybe moving closer to a rocky mark would give some variety??? Cahore South Beach now extends up to the left this year (past "Matt's poles" close to the headland) because the level of the beach is much higher, covering the rocks. This only happens once in a blue moon. I had six species in a couple of hours late last year (whiting, codling, pouting, dab, rockling, bass, IIRC).

Otherwise, somewhere closer to Blackwater???

Any suggestions for accomodation from anyone who knows the area better than I?

Depends what your after pete. Nearest big town would be Gorey. If you wanted to stay in Kilmuckridge itself Sean Og's would probably be the best option, its often used by anglers for the EFSA winter festival so theyre well used to seeing tackle boxes and holdalls coming. No bother storing frozen bait and good grub too.
If your thinking of fishing the boat comp out of Kilmore quay the next day then Wexford towns probably the best option, halfway between both.

I'll be at this 1 too.

I'm in for this one too, hopefully the flounder and dabs play ball!

Just a wee tip for lads who haven't fished here at this time of the year, Lug Wraps (The frozen gutted black ones, they cost about €8 for a pack) are the business.

Also as Kstaff has already said, floatfished corn will pick up any bass as will mackeral feathers tipped off with cadburys celebrations
Seriously, the wraps are quality tho!

No! Im out of celebrations! Will Heroes do the job? Went digging today and got a few Afternoon tea biccys too.

sweetcorn is good when the seas are clear otherwise a mushy pea is a better option- more scent. need to be whipped on though.

Mon Jan 15, 2007 5:49 pm

Baked beans for tope. Wrapped in cling film with sauce to colour the water.

Mon Jan 15, 2007 6:24 pm

Don't forget Hookless barbs, a must for soft baits.
