Heard the float fished Corn was doing the business Keith

Won't be able to make it myself. Hopefully I'll see you guys at the next Comp.

Herring aswell!! We'll be kept busy, small hooks everybody!

Wed Jan 10, 2007 8:08 pm

The real trick here is to to use a single 8\0 hook baited with frogs, good shark to be had, they are always in chasing the red herring.

For those who dont know the venue it is a clean sandy beach which usually holds a good number of small fish, whiting, dabs, flounder.

There are often good numbers of Dogs which are mostly caught after dark but can sometimes show up during the day.

Its a bit early in the year but later on it can also produce Bass, Ray, smooth hound, Huss.

Fishing for the small stuff is usually better in close but even for the dogs no more than 70-80 is needed.

As this is just a meet can I assume that it's fine to use 2 rods for some experiments on the day? Close in / far out etc..

Some of us will fish as a comp, so normal comp. rules will apply for those. Basically it will get new members used to the set up..

I think there is going to be a comp on the day Keith, but if there is it'll be extremely laid back. And I assume there will be no obligation to fish in the comp either. It's mainly an opportunity to meet up with everyone.

It might be a good way for anyone new to match fishing to learn the ropes though, and get a match under their belt before the more serious comps start?

I just hope the weather clears up a little, it's fairly manky outside.

Currently looking windy but not too wet.

EDIT: you'll have to cut & paste that link. sorry. phpbb isn't impressed.

I might drop in on my way home tonight if it's still daylight, just to check the lie of the land after the storm.

so ennereilly is north of arklow...im travelling from waterford...id say its easy enuf 2 get on coast road then? is the beach handy 2 get 2?

Thu Jan 11, 2007 4:47 pm

Haven't been there in ages, but I think you take the first right at the X roads when you get to the North end of the Arklow Bypass on the N11 (scratnagh cross NOT scarnagh cross, which isn't a million miles away???)

Can someone confirm?

Yes- first right. If you see the sign for the redcross river you have passed it

I'm sure it wont be a problem as long as you are not entering the 10E a head comp. I may do the same but if so will try to fish at the end. I will be late so wont be in the comp.

Starting to look like I wont make this one.
Looks likely that we will be out searching for the 2 boats that have gone down off the Waterford coast.
A terrible tragedy

Absolutely. Heartrending when we watched the news.

Just a reminder that this is on tomorrow.

If you are fishing the comp you must be a full member for insurance reasons. We cannot necessarily take membership on the day- this is dependent on being able to contact the Leinster Secretary.

So wrap up well!
