Report:

Due to the deluge of rain it was decided to fish this on Clogherhead beach. We met up at the carpark, drew our pegs and got set up just as the sun was starting to set. There was a lovely little surf running and plenty of colour in the water. After the rain we'd had all day it actually turned into a nice evening.

First blood went to Jd on peg one with a nice flounder of 32cm. This was quickly followed by another of pretty much the same size before any of the rest of us had even gotten a sniff.

As the last of the light started to fade the rest of us started getting a few knocks. I think Al was next in with a counting rockling. Not to be outdone I quickly bagged myself a lively oyster catcher that had flown into my line. The angry beast was expertly handled by Al and Ruairi and after a quick snap and a poo it flew off about its business.

The fishing wasn’t exactly fast and furious but we were all kept going for the night with small Dabs and a few nice flounders and codling.

Lines in at 21.00 and I was lucky enough to have pipped the lads.
Final Scores:

Myself 14 Fish 279pts
Keith 11 Fish 260pts
Ruairi 11 Fish 259pts
Al 11 Fish 193pts
Gordy 10 Fish 192pts
Jd 9 Fish 182pts.

Biggest flat was Gordy with a flounder of 35cm
Biggest round was Keith with a codling of 38cm.

Next SAI comp is our open, the Cod Championships scheduled for the 13th of December in Youghal. Last years event was great craic with some top prizes. There seems to be a decent run of cod this year too so why not come along and take the trophy from JP. He doesn’t even like fishing!

Nice beach, will give it a bash again i'd say..Kept busy but most fish for myself were undersize. Learned a few things about a new mark though which is good.
Well done to 1st,2nd 3rd..and to Ruairi who donated his 3rd prize to 4th place, which happened to be me..I owe a few pints :D
Looking forward to the Open Cod championship in Youghal, Should be a good one judging by the fishing there at the moment :D
