Hi Lads,

I have to move house this weekend so I'm out. Disgusted! My attendance has been shameful this year so I suppose it's not unexpected though!

One piece of advice for you lads - there's no point picking a beach to fish now. There are 5 main beaches along the Castlegregory side of Brandon bay, and each will have a different surf depending on the weather. For instance a massive surf on the Back Beach or Stradbally is likely to be perfect on Fermoyle. And if Fermoyle is only flounder surf, then Gowlane is likely to have more fishable surf.

The key to catches is picking the beach with the best surf, and equally importantly the one with the least weed! So you are definitely better off scouting the beaches on the Saturday morning and making a decision then. To be honest the same tactics and baits will apply on all of the beaches anyway, so it makes no difference which beach you fish.

Possibly me and Alex.

I'll know more later on tonight but so far it seems promising.

Btw, I’m also thinking staying overnight but will have to talk to Alex first. On the other hand, if I’ll do, this well might be last time I’m posting here since my GF will kill me. This is because it’s been a while since we spent a weekend together. ;-(

But yeah, I think we can make it.

I need to restate the following for insurance reasons...

Just a reminder that non-members won't be able to fish the comp. They can fish past the pegged zone.

Hi Lads,
there will be two Ph.d students down Saturday/Sunday doing research into bass. They will be around for the competition, taking scale samples and measurements.
If people are fishing for Bass on the Sunday, they would be interested in going along, again for samples.
Cheers.
