Thats smack dab in the middle of the home stretch towards my exams and I don't think I can justify taking a whole day off at that late stage. Sorry lads, attendance record has been poor at best this year

Moved to Gurteen due to clash with major EFSA open

Gurteen is a clean sandy beach with eel grass beds out further, fishes at most stages of tide but probably best either side of low water. Species are Dogs Huss and Rays, Flounder and Turbot in close. Its situated about 5 mins outside the village of Roundstone Co. Galway.

If the weather is fine there should be no worries with swimmers as there is a beach before the one we'll be fishing which the swimmers etc tend to use. Myself m.b3 JP and nige fished a comp here about a month or two ago which jp won with about 11 or 12 fish made up of dogs and ray. Distance usually is'nt an issue as on many occasions we were outcasting the ray which were being picked up by the lads fishing in closer.

Plenty of room to accomodate a large turn out if we get one and a readymade alternative in the next bay over if the wind is howling into our faces. (Dogsbay)

Hi Kraken. The suggested Alternative was Fanore beach which on its day can be a good venue but again if conditions were not right it would be like Clonea all over again. Trust me you wont be dissapointed with Gurteen. Plenty of Ray dogs and huss if its any way calm or even just choppy.

Fishes in daylight too so were finishing up in plenty of time for the craic in Galway that night!
