Alright lads, I want a final head count for this please. All in, as in definitely in please raise your hands now.... I have tried to obtain a second boat but unfortunately I am unable to do so. I had one or two of the donegal lads lined up to step on to help with numbers if we managed it but unfortunately not.

I spoke with Angela Crerand last night, Laurentic, the wreck at the mouth of the Swilly is fishing well for pollack and coalies with ling in between (this will depend on the speed of the drift TBH) Laurentic lies in over 120ft of water and is fairly well spread out at this stage. Rag may be somewhat useful if we drift the reefs over near Fanad but is by no means essential. Standard pollacking tactics can produce. There are not the quantities of wrasse there to justify specifically targetting them, any that do come are a welcome bycatch. The sand is not fishing particularly well at the moment by all accounts. It is throwing up a few Gurnards and LSDs etc though. Unless specifically targetting place on a long flowing rig, baited hokkais are said to be as good as any at picking up sand dwelling species. If all else fails after leaving Laurentic, we can always anchor up for thornback ray. They usually arrive in numbers around the same time as the tope. Apparently there have been 4 tope caught in the past few days, it might be worth spending the last hour having a go for them. The mark is actually very close to the pier at Rathmullan.

All attending are required to be on the Pier at Rathmullan by 9.00am, all attending must have a Personal Flotation Device (lifejacket) of suitable size etc. There has been much discussion on this subject already so its not fair to say you have not been warned. No PFD, No getting on the boat. We will be departing around 9.30 or so.

Bring some form of bait with you. As mentioned above, rag is not essential. Mackerel however is, there are macks showing at the mouth of the lough over near Fanad but dont be relying on them. We will try and obtain some fresh mackerel prior to the comp starting but as I said, dont be relying on it and bring some of your own too. All members attending post below, we have 9 names altogether above which is going to be tight BTW. Unfortunately, this cannot be avoided. We usually reckon on 8 being an absolute max but it would be unfair of me to turn around to just one member and deny them a spot. However, no more need apply if you dont mind.... :D

25cm is the minimum size once again for all species. Your MA points will be a percentage of the winning total and will be allocated as such. We will draw pegs prior to getting on. The boat itself is, from memory a 38' Aquastar.
