A Big Ask Maybe

Mon Feb 26, 2007 11:12 pm

for a first post.

Hello all I am from Glasgow and am an passionate Sea angler. This year myself and a mate are coming over to Ireland to do some fishing. Our very rough plan is to arrive on the Sun/Mon of the last week in June and head West somewhere then Gradually work out way round the coast to finish up in Cork to watch my lad fish in the Home Nations on the Fri Sat before heading home. As neither of us have any experience of fishing in Ireland we are looking for some help/suggestions for our trip. Venues bait collection tackle shops etc. Our targets, admittedly taken from watching Henry Gilbey and the likes on TV will be the Huss and Ray fishing on the Shannon, Some beach bass fishing with both bait and plugs and some nice Pollack fishing. I am also into fishing for Big Wrasse and Conger.

As I said might be a big ask but would like to make this a really memorable trip so any help/suggestions either here or by Pm would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Drago

Hi Drago,

I'm sure once we get closer to the time some of the guys will be able to Chime in. Once your travel plans are a little clearer, post again for specific information in the areas you are intending to stay. At that time of the year there is normally some good fishing all over the west coast, so you'll be in good hands here. It might also be worth looking over the older posts with the search facility to help get some more information from the site.

Welcome to the site.
As Mac said, the closer to your travel date the lads would have more specific information for you but for now these may help.

There is also a shore mark section on the website.
Hopefully they will give you a broad idea of what is avilable in each area and you can narrow it down later.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the replys and for the pms too. I will be in touch nearer the time but looking at the website I think picking where to go will be very difficult from the huge choice available.
