Its not perfect but it does a reasonable job of making a nice neat knot when tying similar line diameters together.

knot to braid

Hi

I use the bloodloop to and it never fails but it does produce a fairly large (long) knot depending on the number of turns you put in on each side.

If you are attaching a shockleader to braid, the damn braid can be very slick and I prefer to use the stren knot, illustarted in the piece below. It has the advantage of being slightly smaller in profile to a bloodknot and it seems to tie better... a drop of superglue never hurt either!

FWIW...

tie a grinner over each line, tighten gently and slowly pull them together. very very strong and neat.

so the stren knot is a double grinner then

blood knot

i just tried tying two 15lb lenghts of line with blood knot and pulling with a scales to see at what strength it broke. The palomar knot i attached the line to the scales with broke at
14lb, so the blood knot is stronger than this (one test only)

i have smashed the top off my scales testing knots like this, as when it breakes the
spring fires like a crossbow

LOL... I did that before testing knots in 20lb braid. It rapped the bejaysus out of my knuckles too..... :o

i find the boomi twist works great for all purposes, both braid and mono
