What are the best lenghts and in what wheather. Plus do you use swivels
on you rigs or links or do the snoods tie onto a bead :?: :?: . I seen a trace called a finder trace and it was fifteen foot long with long snoods and they were tied on to a bead instead of a swivel. I ask because in wind I find trace getting into a big mess   .
Thanks

I havent used these 4 way beads yet they replace the need for crimps and swivels they have 4 holes for rig length and hook length must get a few packets ta try them does any one use them

I use four way beads usually with main bodies of 40lb down to 25lb. These would be using snoods from 15lb -10lb. The main use for these is scratching for flounder and dabs. Hooks from size 4-6. Lenghts of snoods would vary between 18-36 inchs.
If its calm I would use the long snoods and if theres a surf use the short ones, this avoid the tangles I find.
Most of my general traces would have snoods from 12-24in.

I use a swivel with my snoods on to the main line, usually snood is 15lb amnesia and 18in long with about 6 beads, but at the minute 1 of my rods is testing out just 6in snood lenghts as it tangles less with the whiting, and so far seems to work well.

Hi Colin,
I use the " if the tide is strong keep em long" method, in calmer water I'd keep them short enough, 12" as they seem less prone to tangles, however the species I'm after can change everything too. Bass and Cod etc, I'd always have them 24" plus.
Don't hold me to this though!!

4way beads are popular with some. personally don't like em. i can get a stronger knot to a swivel with light line using a uni-knot. snood lenghts vary so much that u would need to right a book on em! try different lenghts for yourelf and see what works best for you. confidence is everything!
