Pendulum Cast

Does anybody here use this type of cast watched a video once and the guy was able to red the reel of line think it was an abu he was using. I try it most times when im out but have problems with anything over 130g cant seem to get the power into it when theres a heavier weight (always use the long stem genie weights) and a pulley rig. It really gets my adrenaline going when i hear the reel wizzing and watch the weight disappear! im pure shaking after doing it but i think i could get better distances. Im using a penn525gs on a good cast i can red about 3/4 of the full spool anybody got any tips?

There are lots of videos on the web of people casting , but really the only way to learn is to get lessons.
Lessons are usually free if you travel to the instructor. however if he has to come to you there may be a slight charge for fuel .
Or you could attend one of the casting club meets, If interested pm myself or Lee337 , again there is a small charge of £4 to cover the day caster insurance .

A few visits to casting club meets should help a lot if you have the basics.I started from scratch and have over tripled my casting distance in under a year.(Well worth a trip)

As the guys have said there isn't any substitute for lessons and practice. However I've found the John Holdens CD "Long Distance Casting 2" to be very good in terms of getting me started on the basics. It's a combined electronic book with video clips at key points to recap on whats been covered. Available from Veals.

learning the hard way can be a good thing too. helps you find your own style. if you cannot meet up with a casting instructor read everything you can on the subject and keep trying different things until something clicks. it can pay to have a few different casting styles- you can use them for casting different distances accurately. this is handy at night when you cannot see where the lead lands. for example you can have a 'flounder cast', a medium range cast and an all out distance cast.
