Help please.

To many of ye this is probably a stupid question but I would rather be stupid than ignorant. :)
Can somebody please tell/explain what is ledgering?

Hiya, ledgering is just fishing on the bottom without a float.
Nothing fancy, just standard sea fishing is ledgering.

I think that is probably the only context that the word is normally used in sea angling as most sea angling is done using ledgering techniques.
The online definition is simply 'to fish with a weighted line'

In course fishing the term would much more widespread & would be used to describe any method as per the online definition above.

I'm thinking of getting a tripod for Christmas and the Ian Gold Super Match 6ft is available in my local tackle for E65.
Basically I would like to know your opinions on this or can you suggest a better alternative?

I'd say go with Goldsy, Reputable name and one of his better modles suggest this would be a good buy... I can't suggest anything better, just don't buy a Shakespear one, they're not very good.

Golds make good quality gear.Have the six foot match myself.It's over 12 years old and still perfect.

If ur looking a good sturdy tripod i recommend the deluxe model from veals ive had no problems with it blowing over maybe heavier than the golds but worth the cash.

There is not a better rod stand on the market than Goldsy's stand, he has been making them for 20 years, they have been copied but never improved on....as light as his are, if they are erected properly they wont blow over.......the Parker one that Veals sells is a poor copy! :lol:.....its heavier because Parker cant afford to make the heads and cups out of ABS plastic....so he uses alloy...one good knock and it will bend, not so ABS plastic......you only need to count the people who choose the Golds gear.

i have the golds and as drew says i cant suggest anything better.it is quite lightweight which is a bonus.

the deluxe models(in vairous makes) are all good but try and carry that extra weight for long and ur back no about it :shock: :shock: .

Above hook but able to move freely - if a fish lifts the bait, it doesn't feel the weight and is therefore more likely to not spit the bait or become spooked.

I think feels sell tripods but apparently there not up to much so maybe its better to go for the golds good luck :wink:
