has anyone got one? are they any good for rough ground/tidal??

my friend has one and they have really good bite detection but they are quite soft and not really suitable. they do do a rough groud model and i dont no wat dat is like.

The rough ground model just has a stiffer butt/mid section. Barney Wright did a review on it a few months ago in TSF. If I can find it Chris, will bring it down to the next club meeting I am at for you to read.

Only thing to bear in mind is that there is no point in buying a rod to suit 10% or the venues you fish rather than one that will suit 90% of them.

Got the older version of the supercast stx 130m great rod for light beach fishing but it won't let you down if the sea conditions change.
I've a pair of the daiwa td-xs 133pm this rod wold hack through the worst conditions but still has a super bite detection.

I would agree wid Donal. I have the tdxs 129pm and it is a superb rod.

I want a TD-XS133pm, but I have a perfectly good (but old) TDPK13M and I'm not sure I can justify the price :?

Does anyone know whether the TD-XS would be a beefier rod? Is it worth adding to the collection?

The standard supercasts are really great rods (I have both the bass and beachcaster versions) but are NOT suitable for anything other than clean ground. The PM version would be better on rougher ground. They are roughly the same price I think?

The TDXS is a fair bit more powerful than the TDPK with the butt in particular being much stiffer, bite detection on these rods is particularly good.

The TDXS range can be bought for in the region of £200 sterling.

I have pulled in clumps of weed. that would fill a coal bag, with the td-xs 133pm and never bat an eyelid.

Thanks for the advice lads. Looks like the TD-XS mightbe a nice alternative/spare for my TDPK. If I get the same use out of the TD-XS, it'll only cost about €30 per year.

Suppose I better check out the cheaper alternatives first, but I have a predisposition towards Daiwa for some reason :?

Wouldn't say the Supercasts are suitable for rough ground at all even the PM models which I own. Daiwa have brought out an upgraded rough ground model to add to the range recently. Love the 13ft PM rods however and for heavy clean beach work (6oz plus big bait) they're excellent. Forgiving pendulumn rods that produce excellent distances and are easy to wind up and cast consistently good distances with. v good bite detection too all things considered
