Lads anyone know anything about this peir what species range the sppecies can be found on it in the spring summer time. surely if you can throw lead far enough you wouldnt be too far from the tope?

Now i know theres millions of pollack under the legs of the peir but what can you expect to catch when casting seawords?

Any help would be gretaly appreciated

hi hairy i fish the swilly pretty often during the summer have caught thornbacks, mackeral, pollack and dawgs off the pier it gets very busy in summer time with mackeral bashers there is a deep channel just off the end of the pier and a serious current flows down by it had problems holding the bottom with a 6oz gripper! as for tope u need a boat have tried everywere around there from the side and no luck yet i usually fish the buncranna side just up from the marina have had a lot of good thornies from that beach

thats the side the ferry comes in aint it fished there a couple of times as there was no room at the front but got annoyed with speed boats all the time and the ferry coming in its very busy wee place in summer to busy for my liking but it certainley does produce mite b worth a throw at nite time when the tides coming in would definately b a lot quieter

tope have been taken from the pier in the past with congers too, guess its just a case of perservering, and gettin plenty of rubby dubby down!

I went with Drew a year or two back during the summer, we were there for a Charter boat trip the following day. We caught dozens of very small Herring and seen a couple of Macks lifted too, only stayed an hour or so before going out on the lash. *hic*

I fished this pier a few years back.

It is very busy.

I got a few mack but supposedly you can get decent thornies off it.

As previously mentioned - and probably depending on tides - the current is very strong. Holding bottom is a nightmare.

You'll not cast to them Hairy unless your fit to push the 3 mile mark! They run up river from there so without question they pass through so if you put in the time you'd hook one sooner or later.

S**t i just deleted that post there aye there would b seemingley they hunt in packs but trying to land one from the pier would b a nitemare ive been chasing tope up there as 3 years started from scratch have learnt a brave bit abt the swilly but think the timing is most important missed out last year due to work got there to late u nearley need at least 3 good days on it 1 to catch bait and the others to fish it hard me and the mate go down to it every year
