Anyone ever fish the following areas in Cork?
Myrtleville beach
Sandy Cove
That beach just outside Kinsale...left after crossing the bridge....? Its name escapes me.
Thanks in advance.....

Hi Pete,
I fished Myrtleville, Fennels Bay and beyond, early in the season this year with plugs and spinners as the year before I saw a few bass swirling off the beach while out for a walk. No bass unfortunately but caught a few pollack down past Fennels bay and saw lots of seatrout jumping around the the rocky area on the left hand side of the beach. Never bothered with the beach as its a popular spot for dog walkers.
Sandycove is a handy spot for digging lug, if you follow the road to the right of the cove it takes you out toward the island. There are a few spots (easy to find) along the side of the road before you get to the car park. Fish high water and into darkness for the odd codling and doggie here. I've never heard of any bass caught here.
Let me know how you get on,
cheers, rory

Hi Rory,
Thanks for your reply. I did a bit of plugging around Myrtleville myself in the summer. Didnt get any bass but there were some huge sea trout hopping around  Didnt get one of them either I have to say!
Was more curious had anyone actually bait fished off the beach at all? Place was busy with mack bashers and dogwalkers when I was there so it wasnt an option. I must give it a try soon for curiousity. If Sandycove is just scratching for dogs and the odd cod, Ill give it a miss I think. An interesting thing, when I was there diggin lug in the summer, the little pool under the bridge that remains at low water was full of smallish mullet.
