Paid 130 euro from a local tackle shop but they had to order it in especially and when I heard the initial price they quoted €180 I kicked up such a fuss I got it for cost + VAT. I have to say I like it, for effortless distance its a winner. I team mine with a Daiwa Emcast loaded with 30lb Powerpro and it absolutely flies.
Bite detection is quite good but its no match rod, not a poker either for that matter. What surprised me about it was how well it handled winching in fish, 3lb codling or so, over rough ground at Monkstown, the extra couple of feet made such a difference.
What I like best about it is that I can hit the similar distances to what I obtain with the multiplier with a minimum of fuss. Using a simple overhead style you can put a bait on the spot every time. On saying that you would have to kill me to get me to part with my multiplier set ups but I do think, particularly in close pegged matches or distance fishing at night without the worry... these rods definitely have their place, especially when teamed with a good braid.

Think I bought off the same bloke Kleeneze, he said he had one left, the lot came to 99 EUR and that included the postage,
Pete, Can't wait to fish "De Wall", I'll try and make the next set of Neaps after 11/12 November, will send you a PM when I'll be there and I might be able to learn from the experts if you're about!!!

Yeah, I found them on ebay a day or two after buying mine..... I posted the link up. Bring it to Tramore Colin, stump up the few quid for a decent braid for it though. I dug mine out of the bag towards the end of the Munster Open comp and horsed it out, got a couple of fish for the scorecard that I may not have had without the extra few yards.
Alby, if its an expert your looking for, keep looking..... However, drop us a PM and we'll try and get a fish or two.... :D

Lads,
I've never tried the whole long rod thing yet and am sniffing around a few models at the moment. Not looking for anything too expensive as I don't see myself making that much use out of it.
Had a look in Cork the other day at Peter Horne's. A 16ft Century Carbon Metal is gonna set me back €450. Ouch, no thanks! The other one I was considering was the Daiwa Longbeam which is alot healthier price wise. A Greys Triplex is also up for consideration, gonna leave the K2's alone.
What do ye think would be the best option and where to go to get the best deal? I think the Longbeam is approx £99 in places like Veals but with p&p for rods to Ireland it might come in a bit over the top...

Veals will cost you £20 on top and as for which rod well it a lucky dip. I have now 3 15ft plus rods and love them all. i think it the shopacholic in me.
Will all buy to much gear as pete charity idea proves.
Try Grauvell long rods they are good

I ordered a Diawa longbeam on e-bay on 19th October for 50 sterling and it still has not arrived. I have written 3 times through paypal and will have to escalate the dispute on 27th November. I would be very wary of using e-bay after this.
