anyone know of any bass markswithin 50minsofkilcock/maynooth

Hi Lads
Anyone know of any bass marks with in 40-60 mins from kilcock maynooth as i have tried a mark in greystones with no sucess and i dont fancy driving home to wexford to try

Portrane is a good spot, the tiny beach or the rocks at the back of the tower, only a half hour away

with traffic the way it is there is no seawater within 40 mins of kilcock.

portrane 30 mins away, you would be lucky :D

i go to college in maynooth and the other day it took me 2 and a half hours to get to the east wall!

good east coast bass marks are not easy to come by, i would think wexford would be your best bet but someone might be able to help you out by PM

I just bought a house in Maynooth - Moyglare Hall, so I'll be making the trek to the coast like yourself. I wouldn't say there'd be any really good bass marks within that kind of range, plenty of other opportunities though within 90 minutes drive.

BTW do you ever fish the canal there? It's handy to have somewhere close and I'm looking into some coarse/pike fishing during those long summer evenings. Unfortunately I took sandymount a bit for granted as I had some very good Mullet fishing & great bait collecting areas on my doorstep :roll:

Yeah the canal is quite good around kilcock! Lots of Bream/Roach/Tench around when i fished there during the summer and some Perch too! I haven't done any Piking around there but i'm sure it'll hold a few anyways! I found Maggot and sweetcorn good for the Roach/Tench and Perch and worm for Bream and Perch! Cant remember the name of the place we fished it was just before Kilcock and it was peg no.7 if thats any use to ya :) Fished well both times i was down there anyways! I only fished it because i was working there for two days during the summer and thought i'd bring my gear :)

I fed the swim about 6 hours before i fished it too,with groundbait,corn,chopped worms and maggots thrown in too!

there are plenty of pike in the area, i have had them to 27lbs in the canal. PM me anyone who is planning to do a bit and i will put you on to a few places.

as said above there are roach,perch,tench etc too.

now till march is the best time for pike,in the summer the weed chokes the canal and can make piking harder. dont forget the forceps and wire traces at all times AND TO ALWAYS STRIKE EARLY IF YOU ARE DEADBAITING!

Kleeneze good to see yourself and Mick gettin a few! some good flounder fishin i heard too.

mark some very big flats up to and over 2lb plus nice eels and small whiting

thats good fishin. heard around christmas was good for flats there?
