I have a Penn extreme fixed spool reel that I lent to a mate over the summer and it's been returned with alot of corrosion,he said he put it in a plastic bag after the one fishing trip that he made and left it in a box ,anyway, does anyone know some product I can get to restore it.
Thanks,
Richie.

WD40, kitchen roll, and a lot of elbow grease.

I did see a corrosion remover for rods/reels advertised somewhere lately in an angling mag, I'll see if I can come on it....

Salt X is the product that dissolves salt deposits etc. However, if the corrosion has worked its way through the anodised finish on the reel then the damage will be irreversable as the protective coating will have been broken. If that is the case then make sure you rinse the reel well after each trip and this will prevent it from getting worse.
