Ken, if you're prepared to travel into Cork I have a couple of numbers for you. Pre booking is totally necessary, as is a follow up call a day or two before sometimes. Cork Angling and Outdoor centre Tony or Trev 021 4321000, Halfway Angling Centre Dan Lynch 021 4885894. Live rag also available from both too.

Hey Pete,
Thanks for that!
Hopefully I'll get time to get into Cork itself.
Would mackeral be a good bait for the area? I could spin early on to catch a couple.

Ive only fished around Youghal twice, caught just a couple of flounders, dont know the place that well to be honest. However, if you can get your hands on some fresh lug, that would do with some squid or mack to tip off with, would see you in with a chance of a cod or bass depending on where you are fishing.

I have found mussel to be a good bait for codling there.
It is possible to collect crab in the area if you have the time.
Lug will work well from the local beaches.
If fishing for flounder in the estuary the crab seems to be the business.
