Crimps 5mm or 8mm

I've been using 8mm crimps for my rig making. Just ordered some 5mm and they look very small. Anyone else using these crimps?

Yeah i got some 5mm crimps last week and found them a pain in the ar*e to thread onto the main rig body,had to 'pair' the tip of the rig down to get them on,but apart from that they were fine would just use 8mm in future for handyness, but i suppose it also depends on the thickness of your line! i was using 50lb for the main rig body but if using smaller breaking strain like forty or so should be fine!

I always use 5mm, the smaller the terminal tackle the better 8)

5mm is to do with length so theres no reason why 5mm would be harder to place through the main rig body. Its more likely the crimps you got had a smaller daimeter or rougher edges. I've used 5mm crimps with 60lb mono. As said a general rule is smaller the better including using small beads to trap the swivel. If you make a sharp end of the rig line using a razor to create a diagonal cut crimps will go down the line easier.

The 8mm have been fine, but have been thinking the smaller the better as Rob mentioned, especiall for match fishing or scratching. Nobody has had any problems with the 5mm crimps sliding or anything like that :?:

I've had no had troble with them slipping but I'd normally use a stop knot as the bottom crimp for clipped rigs. One of the advantages of using a stop knot is it will move under pressure bringing your snood closer to the lead making bringing in a fish easier. It also makes it easier to resnood a clipped rig.
