new rod for british open

lookin to get a new rod for the british cod championships in march and its all extreme tidal flows and heavy kelp and rocks and needs to be able to bully big fish outta kelp and rocks....was thinkin of a conoflex nemisis plus slr2002 or a greys apollo m2 but i don't think diawa have a rod designed for this type of fishing do they????? any help would be great just want anyone's opinion on a suitable rod

Hi Jonny, Daiwa have the TDXS 130 X Match that can be used over rough ground. Fantastic tip for showing bites but one hell of a powerful rod from the middle down and really light to cast etc. 8)

The Conoflex nemisis plus SLR 2002 is a good rough ground rod also I hear but unfortunately I haven't had a throw with one so really can't comment. :cry:

What about the Century WR300, nice to cast, 6ozs and a big bait goes miles and has a tip on it that you could tow your car with! It definately wouldn't fold up when bullying fish through the rough stuff! albeit more expensive.

Is it a rod you want just for that comp or are you planning to use it for your normal fishing over here? I have both the rods I mentioned and really don't mind you using either of them for the comp or if you want to see/try one out before you decide on a purchase just give me a shout and you can have a throw. :shock: :lol: :wink:

i would also be usin it for the likes of conger and big pollock off the likes of ramore head, garron point, torr head and fair head amd prob the white harbour between whitehead and carrick cause it is like a big kelp forest for 200+ yards

Either of those 2 rods that I mentioned wouldn't have a problem with doing that.

As I said the offer is open if you want to try either the 130XM or the WR300 before you spend your money. It might help you make the right decision in the end or at least one your happy with.

Conoflex Nemisis Plus do have alot of followers that wouldn't part with them so there must be something that they like about them.

If you google or ask jeeves about them you will probably find a report somewhere that gives the rod an overview.

The Conoflex Anubis trully is a sweet rough ground rod with a optimum casting weight (o/c/w) of 6oz and very slim, the Anubis-Plus has an o/c/w of 7oz, ive also got an Anubis-Tournament which has o/c/w of 7oz too, all in 14ft with 2-equal sections and more than adequate for the job in hand.

after seeing the anubis plus in action i would definately recommend them, they are quite expensive but i dont imagine its the kind of rod you will ever have to replace again, they have a very sensitive tip, even shows small flats, but are a powerhouse and an excellent fishing rod

all right gilly nelson here ive a 14 fter apollo and a teamdaiwa 130xm if ur looking for a good stiff rod that has a good tip go for the daiwa xm i reckon my apollo wen pulling out a the ruff stuff is soft as **it
