I have got my bass rod and thank you to all that offered help.
I now want a beach rod i had a go with two rods the other day ( thank you pete) one was a diawa sandstorm 12ft the other was a diawa longbeam the new version 14ft and i got so much distance and over all feel from the longer rod.
My question , are 3 piece rods as strong as the 2 piece rods.
Do they work as well from rocks and rough ground as seem to me to be more suited for sand and soft stuff.

glad someone else asking this i also would like this answered.
Only think i can say may help is that i started in fly fishing and most of the rods are three piece and none have ever broke on me. Carp boys use three section rods that seem to hold up also hope that helps a bit.
I would like to know is the tip weaker also being 13-14ft long

My personal preference is for two piece rods but I've no logical reason for it :). I guess I think there is more to go wrong with the extra joint(s).

Ive got a few 3 piece rods and have never had a problem with any of them. Grauvell, Greys, Daiwa etc. No problems. Indeed, some of my 2 piece rods are more likely to be damaged with tips getting caught in doors etc.
