Greystones development

Mon Sep 11, 2006 8:46 pm

Iv'e heard that there is a planned development of a new prom and marina(in a few years) up around the Ballygannon area in Greystones, does anybody know anything about this or read the article on it in the Irish Times a while ago?

I understand development is planned on/around the golf course but where abouts the prom is ment to be built I'm not sure.
I know the devolpment on the north beach will probably effectively ruin the fishing here anyway but it will have no chance if this is happening aswell.
Any info?

Hi Robert, the one I'm talking about is different. The one above will be on the north beach and existing harbour(and I've been following progress on it closely) but there is also a plan for a smaller development further up apparently.

Its ment to be around the Charlesland area and the current golf course there has allready been bought for development in the future. A marina is supposadly ment to be part of this too.

Just found this, haven't read it yet but should give some info http://www.greystonesmarina.com/index.p ... LatestNews

Heading reads: Greystones South Beach now targeted by developers says de Burca

That's interesting Col, first I heard of that. I am actually moving down that direction so I really should throw my tuppence worth into the local council.

I see you have a Dragonet on your species list! Do tell how, when, where :)

Please do :D . The way I understand it, if both developments go ahead as planned the ecosystem for miles south can't fail but be completely messed up
sent pm regards dragonet so as not to take this topic off course :D

Hi Robert,

ive seen a lot of dragnots caught by lads wrasse fishing off the rocks at the bailey in howth and at balsacdden there a lovely little fish coloured, they get quite a few on small rag baits near the bottom, its the only place i now that would be worthwhile to target one.

Hope that helps on your quest!
