For those days when you're too tired/sick/lazy to do get the rods out, Discovery have some new programmes this Autumn:
The Greater Rod Race - The first series of this was good fun, especially the stickleback.
John Wilson's Dream Fishing
Fishing Road Trip - Paul Young takes a fishing road trip through the East of the USA from Maine to Miami
There's also a new carp series.
 Might be worth sticking these on DVD for Christmas ...

The Greater Rod Race? Is this a second series or a repeat of the 'great rod race' ?
Foreign fishing doesn't perticulalry do it for me, we need more Henry Gilby (simply for the sea fishing, i think he's a ponce Idiot)

Nope. It's supposed to be a whole new series with new challenges and penalties for failing :!:

No. In the last series they had to catch 30 species of (freshwater) fish in 30 days.

 ,not another carp programme,I don't mind watching a bit of coarse fishing but when it comes to carp I just turn off, maybe I'm wrong but I just don't find it that skilfull, just stick on a boilie, put the electronic bite indicator on and sit back in your chair.
I'd like to see a programme where they advise you on tackle and rigs and show you new tips and tricks with maybe a ten minute section at the end of the show where they put it into use.

Carp and Carp anglers bore the hell outa me, there seems to be an obsession with them as they dominate magazines and television programmes, not for me!!

Carp are a fantastic fish to catch especially free-lining with light tackle but I have to agree that as soon as I see a carp program on Discovery I switch over even if its John Wilson!

Is it just me or does anybody else find Henry Gilby one the most annoying individuals on the planet!, whatever fish you caught hes caught bigger (but you just missed it!!).I have to be honest, his incesant rabit shows either a lack of knowledge/experience or a serious lack of self belief!! or may be its just me

More details: "Matt and Mick have just completed
filming their latest series which is called THE GREATER ROD RACE.
Its all about a fishing mission from the West coast of Ireland to the East
coast of England! For every mile they travel they have to catch a pound
of fish! This should be shown on Real Time before Christmas 2006."
I like the sound of that!
