Bass Sea Fishing Help Needed

Hello all,

First time poster,

Begginer fisherman here, have never caught bass before.

Heard there's a good chance of catching some around the Wooden Bridge area in Dollymount.

Just wonder if I would have much look with the below lures:

If not can someone please point me in the correct direction.

Also what else good I try catch around Dollymount?

dont know anything about the dublin area, if you are ever down south,
i can put you on a few bass;
LURES
tobys
flying Cs
bass bullets
any silver lure will work if theres bass present. try around dusk/dawn on spring tides
c.............

in scotland we catch them on crab and lug baits.

lures wise. silver spinners or poppers on the surface....

last year the small rapala's worked ok in the trout pattern or blue back with silver underbelly. lastly small redgills trailling 6 feet behind a bubble float can be deadly....

don't give 1 method 1 chuck and give up as it may work ok at a different stage of the tide.

Nice one lads, have a fair few silver spinners and spoons but never thought of giving them a go, will be down there tomorrow giving them a try.

as you can see mark the bass fishing fratenity are a secretive bunch, the wooden bridge in dollymount is not a bad spot, ive heard of bass to 10lbs from here but most fell to peeler crabs, ragworms or sandeels, to be honest this place is best fished after dark from early september onwards, it is quite difficult to fish with lures, plugs ect your best bet would be a float fished sandeel on a rising tide coming into darkness.

thats true enough i agree that it is hard to get good bass information, areas around dublin suffer most from angling pressure as soon as a schoolie bass is caught in some of the better know spots (and word goes around) there is an armada of anglers that turn up ruining the mark.
anyway autumn is fast approaching and with it hopefully some specimum bass!!!

I think the problem is that if you post information regarding a mark on the board the chances are that many poachers view this board and will be on to your mark in a flash.

Went with the spinners and not a bite!

Going to wait to september and go when the tide is out, dig a few ragys and use them.

As I have said before, please keep posting your marks here, especially if there are poachers working the area. Poachers are just that, poachers and know the area better than most. The will poach away regardless of any info on this site and are already doing so.

Do you think the Cunnigar only started being poached from catch reports on this site :?: It has been getting trashed for years, most of the guys here are only reading about it now because Cortaz put up a few catch reports, people started to travel to do a little fishing and are now very angry about what is going on and calling the fisheries board when they see something. This is the kind of action we need. Get the number of the fisheries boards and call them, all the time.

Sure, most Bass anglers have their little spots that they like to keep to themself, but we should be sharing information on this site for the betterment of angling. If there are poachers in your area, post your catch results and try to get a few guys fishing the place. Give them the numbers of the fisheries boards and get calling every time you see a net. This is more likely to put guys off an area than keeping quite and hoping they go away. They won't, not until all the fish are gone with them.

Think about it, Cortaz has been putting up some excellent catch reports of a venue that can fish it's head off and maybe only 15 or so people from this forum have had a go at the spot. I bet he still has it to himself most of the time. Naming a mark will not destroy it. It's just as likely that you will get another angler involved in Bassing and he will be just as protective as yourself.

If we keep going the way some people suggest, we will never defeat poaching and such, and there will be feck all anglers left in this country that care, because they will have died and passed on NOTHING.
