hi all,
Looking forward to a long august weekend trip to Killary, know anywhere to buy bait locally?
or maybe I get enough action on my jelly worms, feathers , spinners & lures and
have no need of bait? I assume (using google earth - isn't it great !) most of the
beaches near the dive centre would be ok? I'm also looking to pitch a tent in a quiet
spot off the beach, suitable? can't wait to hit the road outta the big schmoke !!!

hi kiwi.. check out this report.. should give you most answers..
http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... php?t=6329
as for bait you should be able to catch mackerel off the rocks in the deep channel by scubadive west... they were feeding deep, near the bottom when i was there so spinning neaar the top produced nothing... but check all the levels to be on the safe side..
as for camping on the beach.. should be no problem.. just make sure you camp above the high tide level, dont want to get washed away...
other than that all i can say is enjoy your fishing there...

There is a camping site about a mile south. There is a lovely beach with a river running down the middle into the sea. Looks like a cracking spot. I think the site was about €10 per night and has some basic facilities.

Camping is at the back of the caravan park past the toliets. The best spot really as you can just grap you gear and hit the beach from the camp site.
