Tides

Hey was just wonderin if anyone can help me with the tides.
I'm headin to Greystones early Sunday morn/Sat night it says the tides in Dublin are at 4.14am and i have an awful habit off gettin the tides wrong i was just wonderin if this would be the same in Greystones or would it be earlier?,

Hmm handy reminder as today my dad asked me to get him tides for the next month or so in the Ballyshannon / Bundoran area, can anyone give me a link for such a thing? Muchos Gracias.

This is something that annoys me slightly. The UK Hydrgraphic Office own the tidal harmonic data for Ireland, as well as some other countries, around the globe. They refuse to allow free use of this data by non-profit organizations. This data is freely available to use in the United States, and many other countries. Why should the UKHO be allowed to charge for the use of data describing a force of nature, especially since they have probably recovered their original costs maybe 100 years ago and these countries are outside the UK?

If the harmonic data was freely available, we could use programs such as XTide (http://www.flaterco.com/xtide/) or WinXTide to calculate tides for whenever we want, for free.

I think there is some harmonic data available free from the Proudman Institute, if anyone is interested in generating their own free tide tables for a small number of large ports.

Cheers for the replies lads, that easy tide is brilliant the way it gives you specific locations, thank god for the internet, it beats looking for them in the herald the day you want to go fishing and realising that the tides dont suit. Happened alot!!!

I'll work at getting an older version of WXTIDE hosted somewhere and I'll post a download link to it.

WXtide was built on the xtide software. The old version had the UK and Ireland. The UKHO asked the author to remove Ireland and the UK, which he did. Lucky I kept the older version of the software. 8) With a bit of work you can manually enter all the info into the new version and have all the new features.

Give me a couple of days and I'll sort this out.
