a bit early yet for most species at blackhead the pollack ,wrasse, coalies+mackeral should kick in end of may big time mate. should be congers now ,i know lee337 had one of approx 25lb last summer and put it back so its still about have a look in his personal gallery there might be a photo of it.

yup congers are there, witnessed two being caught friday down by the flats (before the lighthouse).. probably a bit early for pollack though, even though talking to some forigner today down at fanore said he caughty a pollack yesterday at blackhead, so there is hope for you..
as for catching conger 3/0 - 4/0 hook mackerel head rotten bottom and dont froget 50lbs wire trace (even though i have had them bite through my wire traces before)
as for pollack i usually use float and whole sandeel with 8 - 12ft line between them, and use the weight of the bait to slowly sink down caught some fine pollack this way...

But thats just the way i do it :D :D :D :D

hey....if ur gonna go conger fishin at blackhead (co.antrim) pulley rigs or running ledgers are ur best bet with half a fillet of mac or a whole pouting...i fished it this time last year with the bro and had 2 conger 12lb and an 8lb, doggies and wrasse but haven't heard much this year cause i haveb't been up, but for the wrasse and pollock fish in the gulleys theres some good wrasse to be had on the float or hard on the bottom :) hope this helps
