Hi Nige,
I've only fished the beach a few times so please that take what I say as bible but if you do a search I've put up info on fishing it several times. The whole area seems to be fishing poorly at the moment. The pier would get fish with a shorter cast.
BTW The club I'm in has a competition Sunday so beach may be a bit crowded then if a few turn up.
Pm me if you have any questions on the area over what I've said in my posts.

Hi Nige,
we fished a comp in Poulnasharry on Sat without a single bite between 6 SAi members and 2 locals fishing 3 rods!! We were due to fish Carrigaholt but decided to switch as it didn't look fishy!!
I think the sea is broken at the minute!!

The parish priest did tell us that we got the tides wrong!

I don't understand why it doesn't look fishy. I wouldn't of fished poulnasharry through the flood on a spring. Thats not to say carrigaholt would of been much better but even when its fishing bad it will through up a few flounder.

a mate of mine fished the pier in carrigaholt on sunday and had three doggies over two hours on frozen mackeral..... not great but beats a total blank on poulnasherry.

i also heard rumours that doughmore strand was throwing up plenty of bass but i'm not sure i believe that

Patrick,
Is doughmore strand called White strand as well? I've caught Bass off it before but have never really heard of "plenty of Bass" coming of any of the beaches around the area. 1 - 3 per session max. That's just what I've had and heard from the area.
I didn't realise that Poulnasherry would be such a bad idea given the spring tide. It was suggested that all Carrigaholt was doing at the moment was Doggies and to be honest none of the lads fancied this. It was though that there might be a few thornies to be had of Poulnasherry. I suppose after a session like that, you'll always be thinking that you should have fished Carrigaholt. I haven't had the time to put up a full report. Things are a bit hectic at the moment, and it's very hard to put the effort into reporting a blank.

Nige,
The forecast for the week looks like strong southerlys. If it is calm at the weekend this should help the fishing in carrigaholt as it will be nicely silted.

well i'm not sitting on the roof rack again, i dont mind the wind in my hair, but the bugs in my teeth... yuck...
i have a feeling my casting will not be up to scratch though, i went flying earlier today (flying over the handlebars of my bike), and landed nicely on my shoulder, it even went pop  and then popped back    , so no 150 yrd casts by me  , might be lucky to hit 10 yrds...
but it's a day and night out.. (had nothing else planned for wednesday anyway)....
