Hi was wondering is anyone fishing well around Sligo. Trying all the standard marks but blanking 9 times out of 10. Is anyone catching anything??

Things are picking up nicely on the boat now, so it should be getting better from the shore soon,

Small Pollack being caught on feathers from both Easkey and Eniscrone Piers (caught a few myself). Dogfish available too on makerel strips - fish very late on high tide - did not show up until well after dark. Did not manage to fish the beaches as wind straight in my face when I had the opportunity! Saw 1 small codling caught from Easkey, apparently Wrasse are now available with worm baits at Easkey and Rock Marks elswehere

Plenty of small flounders showing from the surf beaches, odd sea trout in through them. Streedagh or Mullaghmore should see you sortin out your blank.

Thanks for the replys. Was out again yesterday (Sunday) and guess what blanked again! I was fishing Strandhill so that is to be expected. Although there was a 10lb Bass caught last tuesday at low water to one of those 'Gulp' fake baits.

Try off Easky pier on a high tide. Plenty of wrasse to rag. Might be a bit early in the year yet but its worth a go.

Any idea exactly which Gulp! lure it was?

I'm told it was the white rag type one by the lads at the tackle shop. I've tried the brown rag type ones but have had no luck. Although they are great for staying on the hook.

Thats a fine fish from Strandhill, did you happen to see a picture of it Shane?

Yeah it is a cracker from a place that produces very few fish. Didn't see a picture of it and didn't believe it when i heard it. But i was chatting to one of the lads in Barton Smiths tackle shop and the fish was brought in there to be weighed after it was caught so i'd tend to believe him. He said it was a monster. Have never had much luck at Strandhill it is just close to where I live and handy for unplanned trips. Did have one nice trout last year about 4lb.

I have the white rag - very effective for spinning for pollock. Nice to see bass won't turn their nose up at them either.
