Mizen Head area

I am renting a cottage for 2 weeks from 2nd June, near Toormore/
Dunmanus. I've already done quite a bit of research and there are an endless number and variety of marks to fish. Bait is always the biggest problem;sea-angling maps of the area show 'the top-spots'
but nothing beats 'local-knowledge'. Lug wouldn't appear to be too much of a problem, what about peeler, ragworm and sand-eels ? I don't mind driving 30/40 kms for a bait digging session. Last year I fished around the Iveragh peninsula- the mackerel arrived early June
around Kells ( more than enough on feathers) .Do they generally appear earlier on Mizen and Sheeps Head ?

Any other suggestions on bait/tactics/lures etc would be greatly
aprreciated !

I am also looking for a decent second-hand rod: 12 ft beachcaster,
if anyone in the area has something and can wait until early June !

Hi

Check out the marks listed for Barley Cove - lots of species including gilthead bream and bass. If I recall we have a poster from the area so search under Barley Cove (see beside Album above) and good luck!
