bites/jelly worms

hey are jelly worms any use at this time of year?? also is anyone catching these days? thanks a million

could work ok over wrecks or reefs for the pollack on boat or deep water rock marks from the shore also, most guys have taken the pollack on sandeel or rag recently up here though

I've found the black jellyworms with the red tails worked deep this time of year on pollack marks can produce the goods. You get (well I got!) a lot of the plucking bites without the proper shuddering bangs, very frustrating and sandeel on a simple rig spun down low definitely works better...

the jelly worm worked along breakwaters or on the inside of a head land will pick you up pollock without doubt ,they can be even deadlier than the frozen sandeel spun .

We were getting pollack with them last week off the boat over shallow reefs, non of that plucking when theyre being more picky, just good takes and dives, great fun

thanks guys for all the posts. i went to rorys and got jelly rags (they dont dry out or dye)!!! and sand eels i had no luck with the jellys so im going back tomorrow with the sand eels

Went out with kstaff for a couple of hours on Sunday. I spent almost all the session spinning with jelly worms (first time i used them) without success. Any tips welcome :?:

They need to be spinned really deep and really slowly, sort of bounced along the bottom or as close as you dare. I find deep spun sandeel is ten times the bait from the shore to be honest. Jellys do however work really well off the boat, especially when baited with a nice long strip of fresh mack. I havent tried that approach from the shore....could be worth a go.
