Hi
Balscadden is famous for its litter and dogfish! The dogfish are plentiful at slakc water, high or low, especially after dark... There are really big congers there with plenty over 30 lbs, they congregate there in large numbers over the summer feeding off the offal thrown in by the mackerel bashers, especially in the rougher grounds.
As of now there may be whiting, poor cod and some codling still around although it is getting a bit late for them. Coalfish are possible especially after dark, and you can pick out the odd dab and flounder relatively close in, just outside the main rocky margin... the currents can be strong so you may need to use grippers and that leads to problems with snags.
I know divers who reckon certain spots are totally covered by years end in feathers and leads, in fact I used to know one who dived there specifically to recover enough gear to go fishing for the next year!
Hope this helps...

Unless things have changed very drastically,I wouldn't dive there without a dry survival suit, used to be pure sh1# literally and not too long ago either. Why do you think the congers love it.
