fixedspool V multiplier

i have a Penn 525 mag and a Penn surf-master 70 i fish the SM 70 90% of the time its allot easier and cheaper and it doesn't Bridie lol. tho my question is what do you prefer do you fish your multiplier at night or do you change to a fixed spool i know that when my abu 6500 c3 ct mag-elite was working 100% i could fish it at night no probs. do you do the same as me and count in your head when casting in daylight so when the darkness comes in that you know once you get to say 6 or 7 to stop. or get a massive Birdie

Always cast the multiplier with your eyes closed, that way it won't matter if its day or night :wink: Just make sure you're pointing the right direction. :shock:

Seriously though, keeping your thumb barely off the spool means that if the line does begin to fluff up you'll feel it and any overrun can be sorted in seconds. Sometimes I also think I can sense a very slight change in speed towards the end of a cast (could be my imagination) and use that as a signal to get ready to stop the spool.

Having said all that, I've never been one for having a highly tuned reel (7HT at the moment) and I have large blocks in which helps.

i fish my reels with no brakes i find that they slow me down to much the 1st multiplier i had didnt have any and i couldnt get use to useing them

multiplier 24/7, after a while you instinctavly know when to stop the barrel from spooling out more line than needed, time and dedication and alot of night fishing..

Don't abu or someone produce a reel with electronic intelligent breaking that stops itself? Does it work? I think it's for lure fishing. Wonder could you do the same for a beachcasting reel?
