Where in Ireland is a sea anglers paradise

I would like to get peoples views and comments as to where they believe to be a paradise for sea anglers .

Personally I thing that Kerry is . It has got it all, Bays and estuaries for sea trout, ray etc. Rock marks for Pollock, wrasse etc, Miles upon miles of deserted surf beaches for bass flounder turbot.

The variety of species cannot be matched. All year round action for bass and in the winter for Codling and whiting.

Together with the scenery and people it does it for me.

i'll agree with you there, fenit pier in Kerry...

but another place is off the rocks past teelin pier in Donegal (caught more species there in one day than i have anywhere else in week).

its easy to pick a good venue to fish when you do your homework, getting the right tide, bait and weather conditions to suit the species your after, but if you really want to test yourself as an angler competition fishing is the way and the bigger the competition the better. i would advise new comers to start competition fishing because it is the fastest way to learn.

The Shannon gets my vote but that may change when I hit kerry at Easter. I dont agree with the comment on competition fishing but each to their own, I prefer a quiet beach. And yes I have fished a lot of competitions many moons ago.

Have to agree with Pat. Tried competitions. Not for me. Too organized. I like travelling light stalking bass, moving if I think the venue isn't quite right. With bass, moving 100 yards along a beach or to a different rock can make all the difference. Can't do that at a competition. Squeezing any species out of a given venue and conditions is for some people. Selecting a venue and tackle for a specific species is for others. Again, just personal preference, but I prefer the latter.

Fortunately, my local area comes pretty close to my paradise. I don't ask for much. I can go fishing at the drop of a hat. I can fish rocks or beach. Spinning or ground bait. Other venues might be more productive but they're no use to me for down time after work.
