Spurdogs

Postby Dogbert » Fri Jan 29, 2021 11:26 am

On a recent TV program a local skipper suggested Spurdogs have become a frequent catch in Kenmare Bay.
Would I need to fish over sand for them or rough-ground?

Cheers

You can catch spurs over most type of grounds.Try and get some local knowledge about them or just drift until you find them. You can then anchor up and fish them.

I got one a few weeks ago in North Dublin fishing from rocks onto sand. Big surprise tbh!

I caught a spurdog pup in the Waterford Estuary two summers ago and that would've been over mud/rocky ground, FWIW.

Thanks for the replies lads, some good info there.
Interesting to see them along the East Coast now.
Be nice to see the Rays back in numbers too.
