Budget spinning reel suggestions

I'm looking to get a reliable sturdy reel for my youngfella t ok use for spinning in the sea lures and light mackerel Pollack fishing. I remember some time back someone here spoke about a reel sure thing catch? Or something like that can't find through Google. Any recommendations welcome size wise 3000 to 5000. Thanks

Have survived 2 years so far on my kayak. I sprayed them with ACF50 at the start and I rinse them after each trip

To be honest, if you get an entry level reel from Shimano or Daiwa, and you mind it, you will be absolutely fine. I have a Shimano Exage for 4 or 5 years and the only maintenance I have ever given it is a good rinse in fresh water after every trip. It has never given a bit of trouble.

Update on this.

I was out bass fishing last night for the first time in 12 months and I realised I must have given my reel more neglect than normal because as time went on it got stiffer and stiffer to the point of seizing. I was resigned to the fact that it had finally given up which was fair enough because I was very lackadaisical in how I minded it. To make ske matters worse I dunked it in the tide and didn't even look at the reel till today.

So I said I'd see if there was any saving it. I first soaked it in warm soapy water to dissolve any salt. Then I took off the handle assembly and lo and behold the reel mechanism was turning fine. The problem was corrosion in the handle assembly causing it to stick. A good shot of WD40 and a good clean, put the handle back on and lo and behold it is running good as new.

Moral of the story, buy decent quality to begin with but no need to break the bank. If you buy a good brand and make some effort to maintain it, it should last years
