Dear Sir,
I have recently been pointed in the direction of an article Pulished on your Website, Concerning the capture of a Large Female Porbeagle shark close to the Mayo coast. Though I am sure I has made for a good read, the glofication of the culling of such a magnificent creature is surely Unjust.
Maybe pointing Mr Flannery and Mr Gallagher in the direction of "Wikipedia" would show them the Error of their ways? It states that "The Porbeagle is listed as "Vulnerable" on the IUCN (World Conservation Union) Red List of Threatened Species. Canada also lists the Porbeagle as an endangered species and overfishing has recently decimated numbers in British waters. ref http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porbeagle#Distribution".
Im sure the capture of such a specimin was a triumphant moment for these Gentlemen, However it is overshadowed by the Death of a creature which had reached breeding age for an already endangered, and largely unknown species.
Yours Faithfully
