Daiwa Tournament, old school but very dependable, consistent, and not that expensive.

I don't know if you can still get it over there but Suffix Tritanium always worked well for me, it is very supple, knots easily and is abrasion resistant

As Seaserpent said SAKUMA NITE CRYSTAL is an excellent co-polymer. I know 'Southside Angling' inDublin have some of the 16lb spools, I picked one up a couple months ago, I think I paid under €15 for a kilometre of it.
Sakuma rig body and standard shockleader are really worth a try.

Always use daiwa tournament, it might be 20 euro a spool but that will do 3 reels and will last. It's best line on the market by a country mile in my eyes.
