I'm just getting acquainted with sea fishing on lures and I've been targeting bass on a number of occasions now but can't seem to get it right...no luck so far except for some pollocks.
I've did some short sessions from both rocky spots and beaches but I'm not really sure which is best to put more time into it? I got that beaches work best if there is a strong surf...but if there's not..should I just stick with rocky spots?
Just to mention that I'm mostly fishing in the afternoon around north or south of Dublin....no more than half an hour drive. Appreciate that these may not be the best spots around...but hopefully there is still a chance of a bass.
Cheers!

ye Gods, you're an optimist any how ;0)
My guess would be that North Dublin and some of the estuaries like Rogerstown would be your best bet. You will need to put in the hours mind. In fact you might want to try to target sea trout and then hope for a bass, probably more realistic.
I'm pulling my notes together on "reading the water" so will post it when I get a minute...

Afternoon is not ideal for bass - dawn or dusk.
Heres a few vids on reading the beach might help too
