Hi all, haven't really gotten out in 2017 so far (twice so far!)
Lately I've been planning a beach session, and I've had my eye on a few beaches in my area. They look promising with rocks + gullies etc. but they are quite shallow. I usually fish beaches that have a very reasonable depth and I feel like I wouldn't catch much at them with my casting ability (90m?).
What I'm saying is, how far would you usually cast out on the shallower beaches and should I position my rod low on the tripod? I'm aware that tactics would vary dramatically depending on the mark + conditions but would that distance be enough to pick up a few fish? Still quite a newb to sea fishing one year on
Thanks

Fish can come in close a lot of flounder and bass feed inside the surf I fish donabate a lot it shallow and has a longish tide run but iv had some very nice flounder and bass at 20m or less have the rod low if you can but depends on wave weed wind ect

If fishing shallow beaches look for gullies etc on low water always helps, most of the shallow beaches i fish are for bass and you do not need to cast far at all most of the time they are caught at a lob out, some other beaches i fish for ray that are shallow iv found the further you can hit it the better

Thanks for the replies and the PM I received, I'm actually heading out tonight on one of the aforementioned beaches, wish me luck!
Edit: It didn't turn out so great, there was a big surf up but the wind was a north north westerly which is bad for my area i think. I blanked but i felt confident fishing there

If you come bit further north I am sure we could put you in a few fish

Don't know what kinda fishing you do
I appreciate it but due to certain conditions I can only really fish around my area, with exams and all coming up it's just not possible.
Thanks a lot
