The beach from the pier out to the river and a little bit further had be worth a cast after dark - throws up flats and the occasional sea trout.
Pier is very tidal. Need to fish top three hours of the tide, either side of HW to have a chance. Flats with scorpions and strap congers close in. This time of year you are going to find it hard work. Small codling and whiting have been known to come in after dark. Have not fished it in years, not a great mark.

baits listed are fine. Rag is excellent for the other fish, to be honest, bit of a waste fishing it at inniscrone pier!

Small strips of mack will do the trick on the smaller fish, the head is a fine conger bait and it resistant to the crabs etc. Congers pull like hell, just don't let them get back into their lairs or you're probably done for so if you're fishing down the side of a pier, keep the bait a good distance out, at least several metres, so you can set the hook and get into the scrap before they have a chance to head for home...

Do you have a car - if you do there are better marks where your ragworm might locate more species and a better size of fish?

There's nothing much better close by, but if you were prepared to drive for an hour, look at the rock marks to the east at Dromore West and Aughris Head. In Dromore there are two access roads around Ballykilcash (?) that lead you down to the shoreline. Might be a bit early but you could pick up other species including Wrasse (which would be very taken with your ragworm!). Dromore needs a calm day. Aughris has a Pollack hole that is best fished into darkness near high water. Great spot.

Do a search on these here and look at the marks listed in the front of the website. HTH

Yes, its shallow and very safe. Good idea to do a quick survey at low water to try and locate some of the very shallow banks and gullies that will hold fish. It will help.
Most people fish into darkness on a coming tide in and around the small outflow from the river near the town. The main quarry are flatties and sea trout. Flatties will mostly be flounder. On occasion I have heard people picking up whiting on very calm nights. I am told that you can pick up the occasional pollack and coalfish too, the latter especially after dark. Nothing huge. Mackerel strip will work fine. Save the ragworm for day light. Belly mackerel strip will find any small turbot and there's the chance of a decent sized one. I don't think the line of rocks near the town makes a lot of difference, but it might improve you chances on some species. A fall back and don't be afraid to try the pier. It gives access to far deeper water and can attract predators looking for small fish and offal and the like...

Been years since I fished it. Rebait every 10 minutes religiously and keep the baits and hooks small to stay active, no more than 2s. Dogs can be bait robbing gits!

Hope this helps...

Thanks kieran, i'll definitely try the beach so...after a quick search i found that one person recommended the rocky outcrop thats near enough to the pier? They mentioned sea trout too. Will definitely try the stream at the town.
will i need to cast very far or is it worth dropping a bait close in
thanks a lot, sorry for the 20 questions!

Depends on the conditions, I find dusk can be very good for sea trout if you have a coming tide, dunno if other's find that, After dark coalies tend to swarm in...
Vary your distance to try to find where the fish are feeding. On a shallow beach it helps to have the waders on and try to get it out to the third wave but its not essential. Especially after dark. You can pick up flounder in 20 cms of water...
